KayPENTAX staff attends some 50 meetings a year throughout the world, including conventions, seminars, research societies, and smaller conferences. In addition to these events, KayPENTAX hosts several workshops each year at its corporate headquarters in Lincoln Park, New Jersey. The purpose of these one- or two-day events is to offer customers instructional courses related to the clinical application of the technology the company provides. Each workshop features top-tier guest faculty who present lectures and lead discussions.
This past year, a new course was offered as a supplement to the standard Advanced Stroboscopy Workshop normally held twice annually: Introduction to Stroboscopy Workshop for the SLP. This sold-out, two-day course taught by Dr. Edie Hapner and Sandra Schwartz provided the “basics” for those SLPs just beginning to use stroboscopy clinically.
Another course presented for the first time was a workshop dedicated to the usage of aerodynamic instrumentation featuring Dr. Joseph Stemple, who has long advocated such instrumentation as part of the voice assessment protocol. Participants benefited from a combination of didactic instruction and hands-on exercises.
Our most recent Advanced Stroboscopy Workshop, held in December 2009, was led by Dr. Diane Bless (co-author of the acclaimed text, Videostroboscopic Examination of the Larynx) and Dr. Seth Dailey. It has been scheduled again, April 16-17, 2010, with Dr. Donna Lundy (SLP) and Dr. Peak Woo (ENT) as guest faculty. Both Lundy and Woo have written and lectured extensively on voice disorders. Woo has also just published the highly anticipated book Stroboscopy that is certain to become a standard on the subject.
KayPENTAX remains dedicated to providing not only leading technology, but also educational opportunities to its customers.
