KayPENTAX has introduced a new software plug-in, the DICOM Compliance Module, for use with the Digital Swallowing Workstation and Digital Video Stroboscopy System. DICOM, which stands for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine, is a standard for handling, storing, printing, and transmitting electronic images and related data in a medical setting. It includes a file format definition and a network communications protocol. The KayPENTAX DICOM Compliance Module (KDCM) will enable customers to query the patient worklist for scheduled exams, transfer images or video clips to the DICOM server or PACS (picture archiving and communication system), create a DICOM storage disc on CD or DVD, and create structured patient reports. In addition to its core features, the module supports extensive configurability, enabling easy integration of the KDCM with different hospital networks.
