KayPENTAX is proud to introduce endoPortal, an innovative streaming video portal hardware/software platform that works in conjunction with either the Digital Swallowing Workstation (DSW) or the Digital Video Stroboscopy System. Using endoPortal, clinicians can now view recorded fluorographic and videoendoscopic exams in their offices, in clinic conference rooms, or throughout the hospital, via secure network access.
endoPortal hardware connects directly to a network switch, or router, in an existing hospital LAN and interfaces to one, or more, KayPENTAX digital recording systems (e.g., the latest DSW, Model 7200C, or Digital Video Capture Module, Model 9200C). Once a procedure is recorded and saved, the clinician can access the exam databases in each exam room using the endoPortal software, and then play these exams in high-quality streaming video (MPEG-4) format. Data can also be quickly uploaded for playback in the native DV format of the DSW or Digital Strobe. DV format preserves the excellent image quality of the original exam and can be easily edited. In addition to video, clinicians can view stills and other report information selected from the exam.
According to Robert McClurkin, director of product management and marketing at KayPENTAX, “With endoPortal, review of digital video recordings is no longer confined to workstations—clinicians can go back to their offices to review an exam recorded earlier in the day, or a month ago. This frees up workstations for procedures, while providing clinicians increased flexibility to review exams when and where they desire, thereby enhancing workflow.”
Among the key features of endoPortal are 150 hours (expandable) of immediately viewable exams, secure sign-on and encrypted data transmission over Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), and a simple user interface and connectivity, with no software to install on remote computers.
