High-Resolution Digital Endoscopic Image

Digital processing of the video signal provides a brighter, high-resolution endoscopic image. As compared to earlier PENTAX video systems, the EPM-3500 provides a 1.5x increase in brightness and a four-fold improvement in resolution. In addition, by incorporating A/D and D/A converters capable of handling RGB signals at 10 bits each per base color, the EPM-3500 offers a color resolution of about 1 billion colors, reproducing subtle colors comparable to those obtained with broadcasting equipment. In the full height image mode, an enlarged endoscopic image is displayed in the full vertical axis of the monitor with an extraordinarily bright, high-resolution image for improved viewing from a distance.

A Wide Selection of Output Terminals

For the first time, a true digital image output terminal (SDI terminal) has been provided enabling DDD (digital image processing, digital transfer and digital filing). Additionally, in order to address diversified peripheral equipment, a wide selection of image output terminals are available for simplified compatibility. RS-232C interface and trigger output connectors for controlling external equipment are also available.

Image Processing

Improved image processing capabilities offer end-users the option of selecting various levels of image enhancement and/or levels of contrast. The use of these capabilities as well as a new noise reduction function makes it easier to recognize subtle color differences and/or structural changes in tissue.
